DDS Logistics was founded in 1984 at the same time the supply chain concept appeared, market in which has continued to evolve and flourish.
Directed by its founder Serge Lacrampe, the company markets its first software solution, Pro Transit Data to respond to the needs of forwarding agents. At the same time DDS creates two more solutions to optimize the supply chain in terms of the supply flow and delivery, Pro Shipper Supply and Pro Shipper Distribution.
Aware of the growing importance of logistics and its economic impact of the precise management of these operations, a large number of clients have opted for our solutions. For example Rhône Poulenc who chose Pro Shipper Distribution to manage its chemical transports between plants.
The 90’s and the arrival of major references
The 1990’s were marked by new and large clients from distribution and logistics. La Redoute chose Pro Shipper Supply to manage its import purchases, and the brewer Heineken opted for Pro Shipper Distribution to manage its distribution. During this same period the group ABX (EX Transport Dubois) decided to go with the Pro Transit Data solution. A few years later the group Carrefour took advantage of our solution Pro Shipper Supply to optimize its import/export supply operations from the Asian market.
2000, a new organization, a new beginning
The year 2000 marked a strategic point for DDS. The company was bought out by Jérôme Bour, former DSI from Groupe Daher, who was named President. Leaning on his renowned know-how of the trade combined with excellent product positioning, the decision was made to reformulate the entire offer, backed by new technologies, and to develop solutions even easier to put into place.
DDS became DDS Logistics, and recruited competent sales and marketing representatives who’s own knowledge of the industry complemented that of the company’s. Between 2000 and 2006 DDS Logistics’ personnel went from 8 to 50 people, spread out by area of activity “Research and Development” based in Rennes, and headquarters in Paris.
In February of 2002 an important stage was reached. DDS Logistics’ position in the market, and its growth of over 100% moved the company into the spotlight thanks to its advanced technological solutions. These assets convinced venture-capital companies Dassault Development and Odyssee Venture to enter into financial participation with equal parts of 2 million euros. During this time DDS Logistics signed on more large references in the field of forwarding agents, as well as distributors or industrials. The company considerably reinforced its presence in the French logistics market (Le Havre, Roissy, Marseille…) and sold its solutions to important companies including Gefco, Happner, Geveleau, Total, Nexans, Manitou, Leroy Merlin, Systems U…
In March of 2005, DDS Logistics received the prize in logistics innovation in the Information Systems category for its solution international sourcing. In July 2006, DDS Logistics bought Forum Trafic, a French developer of management solutions for logistic processes, reinforcing its position as leader in TMS.
In January of 2007, DDS Logistics changed the names of its products and integrated the Forum Trafic into its software suite. Since then, DDS proposes 2 solutions: DDS Shipper for international trade and shippers; and DDS Freight for forwarding agents and 3PL providers.
In 2008, DDS Logistics was awarded the prize of Kings Supply Chain for its solution DDS Freight.
DDS Logistics expands into Asia and opened a subsidiary in Hong Kong and a sales office in Shanghai.
In 2009, DDS Logistics team incorporates the products of the Narval Logistic Software publisher specializing in software dedicated to international transport. Based in Le Havre, the company offers four leading solutions covering both international transit business and road transport.
For DDS Logistics, this operation offers three advantages: a skilled team, a first location in Le Havre and an expanded offer.
With an annual sales figure of 6 million Euros, (of which 25% is reinvested into R&D programs), DDS Logistics plans on moving forward along two axis: firstly, on the commercial front, investing into rapidly staking its position in the principal European markets, notably in Spain and Belgium through opening new offices and developing partnerships; followed by the technology front by developing more web-based services with the objective being to keep all the of the actors in the supply chain in constant communication.
