Monaco Logistique chooses DDS Freight to manage the Principality’s shipments
Monaco Logistique specialises in stock and shipping logistics management for its customers in Monaco. After a call for tenders, it chose the DDS Freight software solutions package with a SaaS contract from DDS Logistics. Goals: to have a complete software tool, specially designed for international air and sea shipping, enabling it to optimise its shipping plans and productivity, locally and internationally, while continuing to reduce its emissions of greenhouse gases.
HSH Prince Rainier II has given Monaco Logistique the task of reducing traffic congestion in the Principality and limiting the impact on the environment. The company currently operates out of 3 sites – 2 in Monaco and one in the Parc d’Activités Logistiques in Nice, about 30km away, which it uses as a hub for grouping and distribution. All kinds of goods – raw materials and finished products – pass through, or are stored here for one or more days or months, en route to businesses and private customers in Monaco, or originate from Monaco, heading for Europe and the rest of the world.
To limit the environmental impact, the company uses an electric vehicle, most of the trucks are of EURO 5 type and the company is also investing in research into low-pollution vehicles with the help of the ADEME, the French Agency for Environment and Energy Management. To maximise the benefits of this policy, trucks must be filled to optimum capacity (avoiding empty return journeys and wastage of fuel) and routes need to be well planned, both locally and internationally.
For international operations, Monaco has chosen DDS Freight. The DDS Logistics software solutions package was developed for forwarding agents and shippers, to handle the overall management of air and sea shipping as well as invoicing specific services, while enabling the user to optimise the logistical organisation and end-to-end tracking of the movements of the various means of shipment. In this way, Monaco Logistique can work in real-time on the web, to handle the hundred or so orders created each month.
DDS Freight can interface with the INTTRA portal for direct communication with the maritime shipping companies* that use the internet platform, to manage bookings and tracking with several companies in a single integrated procedure. Where air-freight is concerned, the DDS Logistics solution automatically generates reports for bonded freight, in line with new air safety rules. Direct transmission to the DGAC (French Civil Aviation Authority) enables the user to obtain the number of the AWB (Air WayBill).
In addition to shipping documents, Monaco Logistique plans to manage customs procedures with DDS Freight in the future. Using an interface with the Conex DELTApass C system, an on-line declaration will be made to the customs service via e-mail in a predetermined format.
Finally, DDS Freight, which is already interfaced with Monaco Logistique’s accounting system, will soon be connected to CASS (Cargo Account Settlement Systems) to act as a freight agent.
